OK, they didn't really try to fry an egg. But for those of us using those first searing-heat MBP's, you'll be happy to know the Penryn MacBook Pro's are a little cooler (temperature-wise anyway). On average, about 10° F cooler, and the fans run slower and quieter. Sorry if this kills any MacGuyver-esque plans of using Penryn laptops as emergency griddles.

While everyone thinks Apple is the "Light Side" I disagree. I've been a PC user my whole life and I love Windows and everything about Windows, aswell as Microsoft, I love Microsoft, I love the XBox, I love MSN Messenger, I love Bill Gates and his cute little hairdue, I Love em you get the point. Recently the "Dark Side" has been tempting me to a point where I've bought a Mac Pro (I got a kick ass deal on it though). 4 years ago I wouldn't of touched a Mac with a 10 foot pole, but I love video editing and I've heard through the grapevine that OS X is the way to go.

The contemporary Apple seems to have two types of music in their adverts...

For macbooks and the iphone, the music tends to be very mellow and playful; reflecting a "without a care in the world" atmosphere. The message here is simplicity.
For example,

When dealing with the iPod world, the music tends to be slightly more upbeat and energetic. The message here is harder to distinguish but I would say Apple wants to be THE music player and is associating with the rhythmic nature of music (and also as many genres as possible).
Again an example...

Earlier this month Apple dropped the price of its smallest flash memory player to just £32. Wow! It also bumped its capacity to 2GB (around 500 songs in 128Kbps AAC format) and charges just £45 for the pleasure (1GB model still available). So I thought now was as good a time as any to get one in for review and see what I’ve been missing.

So let me lay this out real simple-like for you. Last night at band practice I was struck by the idea of trying to hook my Rock Band drum kit to my laptop and see if I could get it to work like MIDI/electronic drums.

Well I've failed.

I've tried to replace the right hand side fan on my Macbook Pro, and I've failed.

The right hand fan has been grinding for the past few months (well about six actually), and on Thursday I finally ordered a replacement right hand side fan. The fan turned up today (late I might add). Then I relaised that I didn't have the really small Phillips screwdriver at work.

When I got home tonight, I started to take apart the laptop, but I still don't have all the tools. I STILL need to find a Torx T6 screwdriver. I've tried Homebase, and found a Maplins which I didn't know was near by. But the smallest Torx head I can find is a T8. I guess I will try and find one at the weekend. A trip to PC World looks like it might be in order.
