I often wonder if there is a master plan in the release of the Apple iProducts. i.e. iPod and iPhone.

It seems that newer versions with more storage capacity arrive on the scene directly. As a customer, I find it frustrating to see the bigger products coming along knowing that the machine that I currently have is not upgradeable and does everything that I need. For example, my iPod is a 30G model, I have seemingly months of music on it, lots of photos, some music videos and yet I still have lots of room. And, I also love my Quirks and Quarks podcasts.

In fact, I fight daily with storage issues on my computer, but not the iPod. Yet, there still is something intriguing when the new iPod Touch comes out with 32GB storage or a real iPod, now called iPod Classic is good for 160GB. Heck, I still have one of the original 10GB iPods. Now, that's a Classic. Both continue to work well, although the older Classic one is a little bulky when out on a walk.

Jonathan Ive, vice presidente e geniale designer di Apple, ha ricevuto un nuovo riconoscimento alla sua straordinaria creatività. Il padre dei nuovi Mac e dell'iPod è stato indicato come il miglior britannico nella categoria "Creative Industries".

Ive ha già disegnato eMac, iMac e iPod e la sua carriera non sembra finire qui. In Apple è così importante e ben visto da Jobs che molti scommettono su di lui nel dopo-Steve.

So it's been a few days since Microsoft announced their offer to purchase Yahoo, and since then there's been endless speculation on motivations and possible outcomes.

Except nowhere have I seen the obvious conclusion, which means I'm either a complete moron, or some sort of freak genius. And I'm not betting on the latter, but wanted to get this out there first just in case I happen to be right.

If you look at all the issues MSFT will face in assimilating YHOO (sorry, couldn't resist that one) a couple seem to be repeated over and over: culture differences and technology differences.

YHOO runs a large part of their infrastructure on BSD. To an engineer used to working in that sort of environment, porting to a Windows stack would be, to say the least, painful - unappetizing to the point a career chance would be in order - there go all those developers that SteveB wants so badly.

Hoy es 5 de Febrero y Apple a sacado un iTouch con 32Gb de espacio, cosa nada despreciable, aunque ami me da totalmente igual, porque del mio, que es de 8, me sobran mas de 3.

One thing I've disliked about online music sales is the price.  At first, 99 cents for a song seems like a bargain.  But, when you start purchasing a lot of songs, it starts to add up.  Buying an album on iTunes is almost the same price as buying a CD!  Why on Earth would you buy an album on iTunes when you could get the CD for almost the same price?  A CD would free you from the effects of DRM and give you a physical copy, all in better quality than iTunes.  The only situation in which it makes sense to buy songs on iTunes is when you're buying a single.  The situation is still the same when you're buying from other online services, such as Amazon.  Even though Amazon has no DRM, the tracks are still compressed.  If you buy a CD, you have the tracks in an uncompressed format.
