Shortcuts save time and effort. By using keyboard shortcuts when I'm writing (I should say typing) I almost make up for the fact that I never learned to type properly -- I do not 'touch type'; I use a hunt-and-peck style all my own. My bizarre "style" allows me to type at about 35 words-per-minute (when I'm really cooking), and I have to look at the keyboard too frequently.. but I make it work.
I envy those of you who can zap out 60+ wpm without ever looking at your fingers.

Tip of the day: Use Word shortcuts to be a faster typist. In spite of my typing handicap, I manage to produce my documents quite quickly, and I do so by making extensive use of keyboard shortcuts. Shortcuts are key combinations that replace using menus or your mouse to do commands or actions. (It is a symbol of Geek skill to go as long as possible without touching your mouse.)

If you haven’t tried eMusic, you’ve got to do it now. They just wrapped up some sort of cross promotion-type thing with a lot of big shot blogs (no, I wasn’t part of it). Anyway, eMusic has become my primary source for independent music, and all at a good cost. I pay about 10 bucks a month for 40 downloads. Sometimes the credits will sit there accumulating while I only use one or two, then suddenly I’ll see a couple of albums I want and there ya go.

As I was reading through TechCrunch, I stumbled upon a post by Erick Schonfeld talking about the Apple TV patent. Although if this takes off it will be most likely on an Apple TV. But still.  What an idea.  Televisions that have an interactive "Ticker".  I would love to be able to be watching the game at home but have a video widget so I could watch the game with my cousin out in Sask.  There's no estimate of how long this might take, and there's thoughts that it may never take off.  I think it will.
