Circuit City is in the process of a Second Life promotion to give away 10 4GB iPod Nanos. They've hidden some virtual nanos on the Circuit City islands in Second Life and if you are lucky enough to find one, they'll send you a real 4GB iPod nano in "real life". I was lucky enough to be the very first winner in this promotion after some serious time searching for it. My lovely new nano arrived today. |

So, I finally took my MacBook to the Apple store in Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga. (Gave you a lot of information there, didn't I? LOL). Fortunately, the Genius Bar crew that was on shift were the guys I've worked with before when I had previous problems with my laptop before. So I felt a little better. Diagnosis? SYMPTOMS: Harddrive failing - Able to backup user's home folder to Bombardment (external Firewire drive) |

I got all of this from the end of MacBreak Weekly episode 79, at the end of the program when they give out their web picks, a Twit.tv program. Apparently there are tons of programs out there that will take the files off of your ipod if your hard drive crashes, and you haven't backed up your itunes collection, but according to the Mac Break guys this is the best one. |

I read this morning Rober Scoble's post regarding the iPod and Flash. A quick summary: On a week when Microsoft landed a big deal to put Silverlight on Nokia phones, Apple’s CEO, Steve Jobs, tells Adobe that there won’t be Flash on the iPhone. I remember reading that an iPod will never have pictures. That an iPod will never have video and I remember how long it took for Apple to get on the whole Podcast band wagon. I agree with Socble that this is an opportunity for Silverlight etc. but if I was Adobe I wouldn't be slashing my wrists just yet. I see there are three ways this could go: |

So our uber apple geek has been in and out of the studio all this week recording classes on Apple iLife and aperture 2.0. These were some of the classes I've been pushing for us to do, so I'm excited. Other than brief forays into imovie and an extreme frustration with iphoto, I've been itching for some know-how on all of my sweet apple software. The best part I've found about apple software, is how much you can do with knowing so little. To get the most out of alot of windows programs and even Adobe programs, you really need to know the program well. They may have limitless possibilities, but unless you study it, you won't know how to best use those to your advantage. Apple programs make the most of "drag and drop" mentalities and are really fun and easy to explore. |

Well it's no secret that I like gadgets and technology and Ive been thinking about my next "big" purchase for a while now. It is of course the MacBook Pro. What a machine. Heres a very short list of why this particular notebook computer owns the rest: |
