If anyone in here can remember the old Apple Macintosh classic Oregon Trail, then you're in luck! All those days spent in the computer lab at your elementary school, dying of dysentary and arrows from Indian attacks, will begin to flood your memory... that is, if you purchase it on your mobile phone. Usually, I'm not an advocate of cell phone games, but, I mean, COME ONE! This is Oregon Trail! You still won't beat it, as I am fairly certain that there is no way to beat this game, but it's still fun to try. Head on over to the folks at www.gameloft.com and download the game today! All it takes is roughly $4 to let the flashbacks begin. |

With the recent announcement of the iPhone 3G, many current iPhone users are pondering an upgrade. Here's the lowdown on what upgrading will entail. If you are a current iPhone user on AT&T and bought your phone before May 27, you can purchase an iPhone 3G at the new prices (8GB - $199, 16GB - $299), AND keep your old iPhone. If you bought your iPhone after May 27, then you may trade in your iPhone for an iPhone 3G. The store will also refund the price difference between your old phone and the new one. |

Yesterday I was having a discussion about which Apple apps use the new garbage collection feature of Objective-C 2.0 (the fobjc-gc switch). One of the reasons this topic comes up in Microsoft circles is the fact that so few Microsoft desktop applications use the CLR. As you may be aware, there is a performance cost associated with running code in the CLR and garbage collection often gets painted as the chief offender. I had heard that several Apple apps in 10.5 used this feature, but I had never followed up to know for sure. Yesterday I decided to take a look. Since I am a completely hacker, I decided not to ping the Apple lists and just see if there was a way to figure this out myself. |

We're continuing our detailed coverage of all the bits and pieces dripping from the Worldwide Developers Conference in San Fransisco. As you all might recall, Apple bought a chip company called P.A. Semi not too long ago, a maker of low-power PowerPC chips, fuelling rumours Apple might use them in its own products such as the iPhone and iPod. This has now been confirmed by His Steveness himself. |
