As Apple tries to regain their composure after the MobileMe launch debocle they've setup a special chat support service to help the 1% of MobileMe users who had email trouble (maybe more than 1% but that's all Apple is admitting to).

Sounds good, right? It is...if it's done right.

I'm quite familiar with Microsoft's rush-to-market philosophy. I had long suspected that they threw software, especially operating systems, at the public. After we plunked down the dollars, we got to do their beta testing on our nickel. After Windows XP brought down everything in the house, I vowed never to buy another Windows machine. When we were Peru a couple years ago, this was confirmed by a Microsoft engineer sitting across from me on the train to Machu Pichu.  read more »

U.S. facing hearing loss epidemic - study | Reuters

CHICAGO, July 28 (Reuters) - One of three U.S. adults already suffers from some degree of hearing loss and the use of personal stereos and an aging population may create a hearing impairment epidemic, researchers said on Monday.

A team at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore estimated that 55 million Americans have hearing loss in one or both ears, with men, whites and the least-educated most affected. ...

Australian music manager Glen Wheatley's latest project Stripe is set to launch. It is a digital radio service which will have 40 stations up by Christmas playing over the 3G network to any 3G enabled phone, and 100 by the end of 2009. Those wanting to have ad-free radio on their phones will apparently part with a little less than $10 a month for the privilege.  read more »

According to some owners of the new iPhone 3G, small cracks are beginning to appear around the edge of the devices, typically near the headphone jack, ringer switch, and volume control.

It would be easy to say that those getting cracks are just not caking care of the iPhones very well but that doesn't seem to be the case as even some people who baby their iPhone's are reporting cracks.

It seems that it may be occurring more often on white iPhone 3G's but it could also just be that the black cases are simply hiding the cracks better.  read more »
