After leaving the iPod Touch to restore itself overnight, I returned this morning to find that it has been restored to exactly the same 'broken' state that caused me to restore it in the first place! No third-party application will run. So it appears that the problem was backed up as well. I therefore have no choice but to do another restore, but this time back to the original factory state, from where I will have to re-transfer the applications, music, podcasts, videos, etc. I had to do the same thing with the iPhone. Unfortunately despite the frequent and time-consuming backups that take place, only one backup is kept by iTunes for each device. |

I've had an iPod Touch (16GB) since they first came out. When I got the iPhone 3G, I also upgraded the iPod Touch to the version 2.0 and more recently 2.0.1 software and have been using most of the same applications as on the iPhone, except for the ones that need built-in audio and the GPS chip in the iPhone. Well despite the recent problems with the iPhone, the iPod Touch has been mostly trouble-free ...until this evening! There were 4 applications that needed upgrading, so I started things off via iTunes. The updates downloaded with out any problems. But when I tried to launch a third-party application it would just fail back to the icons. I tried all the other third-party applications with the same result. |
