Each weekend I try to take myself to a MeetUp group.  It’s not my favorite thing to do, although I can be quite chatty once I know someone, meeting new people is pretty stressful for me.  But how am I gonna spread the good word about Indulgent Health if I don’t meet new people?  So motivated, I do indeed get myself out there, but I buffer the stress by book ending the event with things I know I really love.

The summer seems to have flown by.  It's hard for me to believe that it's been 14 weeks since I've turned to a grocery store to get my produce.  Next week, I'll be back to school.  Because I teach, I have extra time in the summer to prep and freeze food.  The academic calendar, that now seems to anachronistic and obsolete for being based on an agricultural schedule, has been ideal for my local food endeavor.  (For a bit more on the connection between school and agriculture, see this 2006 article about a school break for potato harvesting in northern Maine.   (There is also a link from my articles in the Boston Globe page.)

Like about a billion other people out there (well maybe 5% of 4 billion) I've been lusting after a  mac tablet ever since the Newton died (I still have mine).

Seems our friends keep stoking the fire by submitting ever so enticing patent applications ???!!!

From what I've seen and heard, this new windows mobile smartphone (v6.2) has many of the same touch/flow capabilities that the iPhone/Touch has. Its quite impressive to watch . Its also NOT on the ATT cell network which is not good and can VERY expensive for an iPhone owner. Once I purchased the new iTouch with its wi-fi, email, apps store from apple, safari browser plus, my appetite for an iPhone has waned. So, I'm off to demo one of these shortly and will send back a review. You can buy these right now 'unlocked' but they are pricey.  Just search  in google for 'htc diamond'.

I'm getting closer to finalising replacement items after my packpack and the goodies inside were stolen a few weeks ago. Locating a Toshiba R400 that is within the limits of what the insurance company will replace, though, has been a bit of a pain. What makes it even more painful is news regarding more Apple touch-screen patents.

They say it takes 28 days to develop a habit, so here I am on Day 3 of Photos! With the new camera! So if I use it all the time, maybe I can learn what the heck I'm doing! 25 to go and this'll be like brushing my teeth. As in, I'll remember to do it every day or I'll wake up in the middle of the night and run into the bathroom and brush frantically. You may end up with a lot of pictures of my bathtub.

Anyhoo. I went up to N's office with him and took some pretty sweet photos of Boston as viewed from the John Hancock Tower. But my favorite picture of the day was the reflection of this fruit bowl. I'm a big sucker for un-intentional still life. And reflection. And fruit.
