Week 18: September 23 - 29 (with a catalogue of apples)

In retrospect, it should have been a no-brainer that leaving black-eyed peas (still in their pods) in a plastic bag in the fridge would cause them to get slimy and moldy on the outside.  It took a week and a half before we had the right greens to use them with.  I had been hoping for collard greens but had to settle for turnip greens.  In the end, it worked out fine.  I washed the pods to get the mold off, and the black-eyed peas inside were almost all perfectly fine.  We boiled them for about 10 minutes in enough water to cover but not much more.  Then we seasoned them with cider vinegar, honey, salt, pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, cayenne, and rosemary.  The greens, all chopped up,  went in last, a bit at a time, because each pot-fu

Apple Adds an Asterisk to iPhone Ad

Back on August 11th, I wrote about Apple's slogan for the iPhone 3G--"Twice as fast. Half the price."--and said that "Twice as fast sometimes, but don't count on it" might be a more accurate slogan. Looks like Apple has come as close as it ever will to conceding the point.

I was just just browsing around Apple.com for a post I'm working on, and noticed that the iPhone section still has the "Twice as fast. Half the price." tagline. But at some point after my earlier post, Apple appended an asterisk:

Stock Pick of the Day - AAPL

I don't normally talk finances here but with the markets in a downward spiral it has really left some great deals on the table. One of those is Apple (AAPL). Their cash flow is phenomenal. Their marketshare is increasing/taking from PC. They have a diverse product line of innovative products. The current price is at a 40% drop from its 52 week high (currently $127 with a 52 week high of $202). It is currently oversold and is dipping on news that RIMM (maker of blackberry) missed its earnings estimate by 1 penny.

Appletalk: the brick

Because I would consider myself a very big geek when it comes to all things Apple-related, I've decided to start writing posts here that will fall under the new category Appletalk (not to be confused with the almost certainly trademarked AppleTalk). We will discuss whatever Apple news and/or rumors that I deem noteworthy.

3BC55A03-19C8-4EF2-9D0A-9700949E57E4.jpg

AppleInsider has the Geek blogosphere chatting again about Apple's MacBook and MacBook Pros.....

"According to the latest reports, both the new 13-inch MacBooks and 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pros will share similarities not only in their employment of aluminum enclosures, but in their overall aesthetic as well, with the new 13-inch MacBooks for the first time matching their higher-priced cousins as if they were members of the same product family.
