092908_rg_ipodgold.jpg

If you feel that your iPod Nano or your iPod Touch doesn't have enough bling, maybe you'll consider having it goldplated? Goldstriker offers you this service, for a modest premium of course. Some might be worried that this makes one of the most stolen gadgets even more enticing to prospective thieves, but if you've got the money, it can be worth it.

The iPod Challenge: Can you handle it?

Two questions:
1. How many songs are on your iPod right now?
2. When was the last time you listened to all of them?

My answers to the above are 2367 and never.

Don't know about you, but over the years I've accumulated quite the array of music ranging from country and hip hop, to acoustic rock and R&B with some classical-ish stuff thrown in for good measure.

So here's the challenge:
1. Fully charge/sync your iPod
2. Turn it on
3. Click Music -> Songs
4. Press play

Apple and “Cinematic Experiences”

An interesting discussion is going on about the “iPhone Black” UI over at Paul Goracke’s Corporation Unknown blog. The post itself is really about how the current trend to ‘all-black’ iPhone apps is a lot like the way Apple and other developers went crazy over the brushed metal look in their applications, violating Apple’s own HIG in the process. Of course, one key difference here is that it is only third party developers who are using the all-black look and not Apple.

But the more interesting part of the discussion is going on in the comments on the article. Scott Stevenson makes an excellent point:

Nokia Launches Music Store, But Apple Can Rest Easy: You Can't Get There

[caption id="" align="alignright" width="328" caption="Nokia's Rumored Touch-Screen Phone"]Nokias Rumored Touch-Screen Phone[/caption]

Apple’s iTunes will keep its shine.

Nokia launched its 12th online music store on Monday – a facility in Spain – but getting there, or to any of the stores, was impossible. The Web address Nokia provided brought up a nearly blank page with the statement: “Sorry you missed us. We are currently working on the store and it will be back online shortly.”
