La fuerza de un medio se ve en los malos momentos, como el que pasó Bloomberg cuando el 29 de Agosto pasado publicó por error el obituario de Steve Jobs.

Steve Jobs, tot explicant la filosofia d'Apple, comenta que la clau està en el disseny:

"Fixa't en el disseny dels productes dels demés, realment tenen una interfície complicada... Nosaltres busquem fer-ho més integral, més simple. Quan es comença a resoldre un problema les primeres solucions que venen al cap són molt complexes i molta gent s'atura aquí! Però si continues, si vius amb el problema i el peles com si fos una ceba, pots trobar sovint unes solucions simples i elegants. El què passa és que la majoria de la gent no inverteix temps i energia per arribar aquí. Nosaltres creiem que els clients són llestos i volen objectes que han estat ben pensats."

Ya anteriormente había tenido la inquietud junto con Aurelio de crear una comunidad de gente Maquera en Monterrey, con el fin de compartir, conocimientos, dudas, programas, mùsica etc. de nueva cuenta hago la invitación para poder enlazarnos ya sea de forma virtual o incluso juntarnos alguna vez en algún lugar como un cáfe donde halla red wi fi.

With the iPod Touch out (and due to be updated next week), the doors have opened for a paradigm-shift in portable music playing.

The original portable music devices were centered squarely around albums, be that delivered in the form of a cassette or in the form of a CD. They strongly favored putting the album in, hitting the play button, and listening to it straight through. Whle CDs are obviously “digital music”, I don’t include them as such, as they are a digital equivalent to the analog forms which were three decades old at the time (LP, cassette).

I love my iPod, really I do.  In many ways it's become like a family member, equal in stature to at least one of our second-tier pets (we have a very defined class system in our house).  But...

One problem I've noticed in the threeish years since I received my iPod (thanks again to the wife) is that I'm a lot more prone to listen to the playlists I've meticulously crafted and much less prone to just listen to an album, which often is how music should be heard.  Part of this is the laziness factor of navigating an iPod with a lot of music on it.  Granted, much of this was the appeal of an iPod to begin with -- the ability to create my own radio stations, so to speak.

LibriVox es un proyecto donde voluntarios graban en audio libros que son de dominio público por haberse vencido su fecha de derechos de autor que, dependiendo del país, van desde 50 a 70 años después de la muerte del autor.

En el sitio se pueden bajar los audios de alrededor de 1000 libros (casi todos ellos en Inglés) y escucharlos en la computadora, en el ipod o bajarlos aun CD y aprovechar los viajes en auto.

Ahora, si te gusta leer, también está la biblioteca online, de recursos gratuitos, donde todos estos libros están disponibles en formato electrónico.

In Windows, there is a great tool called "PureText" which sits in your tray, and can remove formatting from copy/paste actions if you want to. In stead of pasting into notepad, and then copying it again, you now can use the Windows-V combination to paste without formatting. It works in any program, and I'm a fond user of this little gem at work.
