Out With The Heat, In With The Cold.

Well, it's officially that time of the year. The time of year when we pull out sweaters from boxes hidden in the back of the closet, and put away all the t-shirts and shorts. Shortly flip flops will be replaced with winter boots and sunscreen with and extra pair of underwear for those blistery December days. Although it's not quite autumn yet, I would like to mention that it is one of my favourite seasons. Waking up on a crisp autumn morning, putting on a hoody and walking through leaf filled streets. Going apple picking and baking pumpkin pies. Those are all the great things I'm looking forward to in the next couple of months.

Peace 

iTunes 8 Features

According to Ars Tecnica, iTunes 8 will have a many new features.  "a "Genius" feature that can build playlists from "songs in your library that go great together." Genius will also include a Genius Sidebar, which really sounds like just a refreshing of the MiniStore already included in iTunes. We aren't sure whether the Genius Sidebar will use smarter technology to recommend iTunes Store music that is truly like the music in your library or the currently playing song.

Apple Tree Anti-Pest Method

In a previous post, I mentioned the technique of putting "footies" (nylon half-sock hosiery thingies) on apples as they are forming on the trees, to protect them from pests like the apple maggot fly and coddling moths which can ravage the fruit. At the Seattle Tilth Harvest Fair yesterday (big post on that coming soon), I saw that they had used this method in their demonstration garden.

Spicin' It Up

Wooo lunch got a little heated today, haha but it was GOOD! After studying for a bit, I decided that before I headed to the gym I wanted to make a lunch that I do not get to enjoy very often due to on-campus residency: OMELETTE! So, we were out of roasted red peppers, but after scavenging through the pantry for a bit I found a jar of sliced mushrooms. My omelette consisted of two egg whites + one whole egg, tomato, sliced mushrooms, and laughing cow cheese. YUM!

Well it's 2 days until the day that Apple will supposedly roll out a new iPod Nano & Touch design. The invitations were sent out last week with a Picture of an iPod screen saying "Lets Rock" With the date September 9th and other details in the picture. I am think the new iPod Touches will feature different colors. What do you think? Leave a comment below saying what You think Steve Jobs will unveil.

Zombie Sam

Sunday Rambling with Some Flip Chart & Art

This weekend has probably been one of the most relaxing weekends I've had in ages. I'm sure much of it has to do with being sick, but hey it worked well for me. I've realized this weekend that I need to just slow down. Relax. Enjoy life. I've missed so much in life by doing the 9-5 thing (necessity of course) and after 5, constantly running errands or rushing around the house trying to do the cooking and laundry. Weekends?

A Bigger TimeMachine without Changing History

I had a 160GB drive holding my TimeMachine backups. Because I wanted to backup external disks, and still wanted to be able to travel about a year back in time, I bought a 1TB USB disk. Stephen Foskett wrote a great article about how he migrated his TimeMachine backup to a larger disk, but it's lengthy and misses one essential step.

I decided to give you the short version, this blog post describes how I migrated TimeMachine to the new disk without loosing any data in 11 easy steps.
