Today is Democrat "embarrassing out of context quote day" in memory of this day in 1972 when George McGovern said, "I hate apple pie".
Oy. Isn't it time Obama and Biden got the memo that it's not helpful for them to do this. At all. You know how many times at the RNC you heard the phrase, "My friend Barack Obama"? Negative three, that's how many.
Story: Obama says the phrase "my Muslim faith"
And throughout Right Crazybaseistan, millions of YouTube links were embedded with glee.
In context, Obama meant to say, "my accused Muslim faith -- he's talking about the smears". But who cares about context?
Ya think?
A couple of days after the Palin nomination, I decided that we'd all be able to tell how nervous the McCain campaign was by how comically softball her first interview was.
I was predicting a Fox interview with Steve Doocey and a sock puppet. On a scale of 1 to 10, with Doocey/Puppet a 1 and Olbermann/Maddow a 10, I'd put Charlie Gibson as a 3, but I guess you never know.
I'd take this a whole lot more seriously if somebody hadn't been running it every month for the past five freaking years.
Poll: Gallup Daily has McCain 48/45
This makes me a bit nervous -- for one thing, it's the first time McCain has been substantially over 45 in months. For another, it'll probably be interpreted to validate the Good Cop/Bad Cop thing McCain and Palin have going on. Which is fun for everybody, right?
FiveThirtyEight.com has Obama's win chance at 68%. But if the daily numbers hold up, that'll drop substantially over the next few days.
