The topic of the sacking of Pete Best has always been a touchy subject. Obviously, no one really like to talk about. It's sensitive, and uneasy. It is clouded in mystery as well. There really is no clear answer as to why Pete Best was fired. There has never been definitive closure on the topic. No one can pinpoint one reason for the dismissal.
It seems strange now that George Marting would even bring up the topic. It happened all those years ago. Why open up old wounds for Pete? Why dredge up the topic once again? It a nice gesture to publically apologize for the sacking, but doesn't this apology come nearly 40+ years too late? Here's what we've read.
