More iPod Touch as MID...

Well another week has gone by since I've owned my iPod Touch and I'm still using it every day primarily as a MID (Mobile Internet Device) rather than as a media player. One Web site that has really helped make the Touch more effective as a MID is Remember The Milk. It's a great task manager and provides PIM functionality missing from the built-in Touch applications. In addition to support for the iPhone and Touch, it has great interfaces for phones (like my Treo) and computers (like my SH6). In fact, whenever I'm out of WiFi coverage I use my Treo to access this site.

Which also brings up a decision I've recently made - my next cellphone is going to be an iPhone. That will provide me with a MID that offers constant connectivity without having to switch between devices. In fact if I had realized just how great a MID the Touch was going to be, I've have gone right to the iPhone.

Right now, my Touch is pretty much my exclusive computing device outside of work and whenever I have WiFi access - which is pretty much everywhere I find myself during the day. It's great for checking email and RSS feeds, personal time management (using the built-in Calendar application and Remember The Milk), Web surfing, list management (through the built-in Notes application), and map usage (through the built-in Maps application). It's got everything I need in an easy to use package that fits in my shirt pocket. I'm finding it to be an awesome little device!
