Here is a test of the Apple Slim Aluminum (wired) (USB) Keyboard:

1. Type some numbers with the top row.

1234567890

2. Now, with the keypad:

(Nothing)

3. Hit the F6 Key:

1421457896333

F6 twice appears to allow the use of the number keypad.

And the Alpha Keys still work.

4. Here is more Text & Numbers using the num keypad:

123abc456def789GHI

5. Now, using the top row:

1234567890

6. and more text: This Apple Keyboard is acting kind of funny...

So the moral of the story is to hit the F6 key to get the keypad to work.
The CAPS LOCK Key does not work tho...

7. To solve that:

YOU HAVE TO HIT THE COMMAND KEY AND CAPS LOCK TO GET THAT TO WORK.
There seems to be a bit of a delay for it to work right however.

Function Keys:

F1 = Brings up Help for whatever program you are working in.
F2 = Nothing
F3 = Nothing
F4 = Nothing
F5 = Nothing
F6 = Num Lock
F7 = Nothing
F8 = Play CD
F9 = Nothing
F10 = Mute Sound / Sound On
F11 = Lower Volume
F12 = Raise Volume
Eject = Eject CD
F13 - F15 = Nothing
F16 - F19 = Apparently Nothing
Home, End, Page Up & Page Down work as advertised
Delete deletes, the other delete key functions as the backspace, & Clear disables the Num Keypad. Your mileage may vary.

So the bottom line is that it IS a usable keyboard, and is back on my desktop since it is smaller that the Logitech wireless keyboard that I was using. My only beef with it is that it get's dirty rather quickly, but a quick trip through the dishwasher seems to take care of that.

Next time, I'll tell you how I got AutoCAD LT running In Ubuntu. Until then, have fun!

(Do I have to say "just kidding" about the dishwasher part?)
